We are seeking a creative, highly motivated and detail-oriented Actuary, Quantitative Model Developer/Researcher to join the Actuarial Hedging team. The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded background in financial engineering, programming, or actuarial science. In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of state of the art actuarial and quantitative models that drive our hedging program and collaborate across different functional teams in the organization.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Design, implement and maintain hedging models for hedging operations and hedge strategy for Variable Annuity products.
• Lead the development of tools and platform enhancements to increase productivity through innovative system-building and automation.
• Utilize high-performance computing to accelerate result production and enhance model robustness.
• Create documentation for analysis, reporting, internal control and external auditing purposes.
• Contribute to improvements of hedging strategies for Variable Annuity using innovation.
• Lead initiatives aimed at derivatives/market modeling, analytical research and infrastructure/process development.
• Actively monitor P&L attribution and performance measurement and hedge effectiveness.
• Work with internal controls and external auditors/regulators; take proactive actions to mitigate operational risks.

In Office Schedule: This role will work in office 2 to 3 days per week.

The base salary range for this position is $140,0000 - $175,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or Physics.
• 3+ years of experience in Model Development, Quantitative Research, or related function involving hands on coding and implementing complex mathematical, stochastic, and/or actuarial concepts and algorithms.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree.
• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation.
• Experience in insurance industry, specifically with Hedging and/or Variable Annuity products.
• C/C++, Python and/or MATLAB coding experience.
• Familiarity with techniques such as parallel computing or distributed systems to handle large-scale models.

Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.

Problem Solving: Utilizing established analytical and technical skills to develop and apply  approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

Programming: Knowledge of relevant programming languages and tools; ability to test, write, design, debug, troubleshoot and maintain source codes and computer programs.

Statistics and Actuarial Modeling: Knowledge of statistical and actuarial modeling tools and techniques; ability to apply modeling processes and techniques to facilitate risk management decisions.
